About the Tesla Cybertruck
The Tesla Cybertruck is an electric pickup with a silver stainless-steel body that people hire from Masons mainly for photo and video shoots: music videos, commercials, product photography or an event where the car has to draw a crowd. Two electric motors drive all four wheels and produce 600 hp (447 kW).
It suits photographers, production teams, event organisers and companies that need something in the frame viewers have not seen on an ordinary street. It stands apart from the sports cars and SUVs that make up most of the Masons car hire fleet. It is quiet, so it does not spoil the sound on set, the cargo bed takes your kit, and five people sit comfortably inside. It is also big and wide, which you need to factor into route and parking plans.
What the Cybertruck is good for
A typical job is a music video or a commercial. The crew arrives on location in the morning, and the car is both prop and transport: director and camera operator in front, stylist and assistant in the back, tripods, lights and equipment cases in the bed. Commercial filming has to be agreed in advance, ideally when you book.
The second scenario is a shoot in an industrial setting: old factory halls, concrete yards, railway sidings, harbour cranes. The angular shape and smooth metal panels work better against that kind of backdrop than in a castle courtyard. The stainless-steel body strongly reflects light and its surroundings, though, so plan for morning or early-evening light, when reflections are softer, and keep a microfibre cloth to hand, because fingerprints show on the body.
The third option is the car as a crowd-puller at an event: a shop opening, a company party or a product launch. We deliver the Cybertruck to an address in Prague, and the organiser parks it by the entrance, where guests can take photos. Check the access road and the parking spot beforehand; it will not fit into a pedestrian zone or a narrow courtyard.
In practice: seats, luggage and drive
There are five seats inside, and three adults fit on the rear bench without squeezing. Rear passengers have their own screen, there is a panoramic glass roof overhead, and the seats are electrically adjustable and heated. Luggage and equipment travel in the large cargo area behind the cabin. Tripods, light stands and several flight cases fit there; strap them down so they do not slide.
The two electric motors drive all four wheels, so the car has good traction in the rain and on winter roads. The adaptive air suspension smooths out cobblestones and tram tracks, and rear-wheel steering helps on tight turns. None of that changes the size: the car is big and wide, so keep it out of the narrow lanes of the Old Town (Staré Město) and the Lesser Town (Malá Strana). In Prague, stick to wider streets and larger car parks. There is a network of fast chargers in the Czech Republic; you will get charging details when you book.
Where to take the Cybertruck from Prague
For industrial photos, the strongest location is the Most region (Mostecko), about an hour and a half north-west of Prague. Lake Most was created by flooding a former open-cast mine on the site where the old town once stood, and its landscaped shores contrast with the post-mining land around it. A few kilometres away are open-cast mines with terraced walls and Jezeří château, which stands right above the edge of a pit. Entry to the mine sites is forbidden, but you can shoot from public viewpoints and car parks. The landscape of bare earth, water and mining machinery goes well with the stainless-steel body, and the wide roads in the basin are easier for a big vehicle than central Prague. For a break, stop by the lake or drive up Hněvín, a hill with a lookout tower above the town. For commercial filming on a particular plot of land, expect to need the owner's permission.
Cybertruck or Mercedes-AMG G63?
Both cars are big, carry five people and draw attention, but they bring a different mood to the frame. Choose the Cybertruck for a futuristic or industrial look, for a technology presentation and wherever sound is being recorded and an engine would get in the way. The Mercedes-AMG G63 suits weddings, classic portraits and music videos where you want to hear a petrol V8. There is no charging to plan, but you still need to allow for its width in narrow streets.
Cybertruck: frequently asked questions
Can we use the Cybertruck to film a commercial or music video?
Yes, but please arrange it in advance, ideally when you book. Tell us where you will be filming, whether the car will be driving in shot and whether it will appear in a campaign. Any wraps or props on the bodywork need to be discussed beforehand.
Where can I charge the Cybertruck during the hire?
There are fast chargers in Prague and along the main roads across the Czech Republic. We will tell you which stations we recommend and how payment works when you book. On a longer trip, allow time for a charging stop.
Will the Cybertruck fit in an underground car park?
It depends on the car park. The vehicle is big and wide, and older garages in the centre have narrow ramps and low entrances. Check the height and width limit sign before you drive in; on the day of a shoot or event, parking above ground is the safer option.
Can you deliver the Cybertruck to the airport?
Yes, it can be handed over at Václav Havel Airport or at any other address in Prague, including your filming location. The handover time and place are agreed when your booking is confirmed.
Can I take the Cybertruck abroad?
Yes, subject to prior arrangement with the manager. You will be told which countries are allowed and what deposit applies when you book. With an electric vehicle, it pays to plan charging stops along the route in advance.
How much does it cost to rent the Tesla Cybertruck?
The Tesla Cybertruck starts at Kč 10,990 per day. Longer rentals get a lower daily rate.
What is the deposit for the Tesla Cybertruck?
The deposit for the Tesla Cybertruck is Kč 35,000. We return it within 72 hours after the car is returned. 2,000 CZK stays blocked for 30 days to cover possible fines.
How many kilometres are included with the Tesla Cybertruck?
110 km per day are included. Check the available mileage packages when booking. Each extra kilometre costs Kč 72.
What do I need to rent the Tesla Cybertruck?
You must be at least 21 and have held a valid driving licence for at least 2 years. Bring an ID document and a payment card in the driver's name.
